There are
(5)/(12) of these components together

Solution:

As a science experiment Mo and Jo want to send their rocket into space

They need 1/4 cup of water and 1/6 cup of a secret component

From given question,

\text{Cup of water} = (1)/(4)\\\\\text{Cup of secret component } = (1)/(6)

How much is there of these two components together?

So we need to add these together

\text{Cup of water}+ \text{Cup of secret component } = (1)/(4) + (1)/(6)\\\\\text{Cup of water}+ \text{Cup of secret component } = (1 * 6)/(4 * 6) + (1 * 4)/(6 * 4)\\\\\text{Cup of water}+ \text{Cup of secret component } =(6)/(24) + (4)/(24)\\\\\text{Cup of water}+ \text{Cup of secret component } = (6+4)/(24) = (10)/(24) = (5)/(12)

Thus there are
(5)/(12) of these components together
