The following are the four environmental effects of coal-fired power plants:
These power plants produce
hazardous smoke
that contains carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, etc.
The particulate matter coming out of the chimneys of these power plants reduces the
visibility
in the area, contaminates open sources of water, causes various breathing disorders, etc.
The average temperature of the nearby area that these power plants function in is usually more than the
temperature
in the surrounding areas.
The
coal-waste
that is disposed off in the nearby areas pollutes the environment.
