The first three steps in determining the solution set of the system of equations, y = x2 - 2x + 8 and y = 2x + 11, algebraically

are shown in the table.
Step
Step 1
Step 2
Step 3
Equation
-X° -2x+8 - 2x+11
0 - x² + 4x+3
0-(x + 1)(x+3)
Which represents the solution(s) of this system of equations?
(-3,-1)
(-3,5)

Answer:

(-3,5) and (-1,9)

Explanation:

x+1 = 0 ; x + 3=0

x = -1 ; x = -3

y = 2*-1 +11 ; y = 2*-3 +11

y = -2+11 = 9 ; y = -6 +11 =5
