Prometheus's motivation for "playing with fire" was to give it to the humans, whom he made out of clay. He stole the fire from Zeus who got very angry of him and, as a consequence, he was punished. He was sentenced to an eternal torment, whereby he was chained to a rock forever. An eagle would come to eat his liver on a daily basis. Then, it would regenerate at night, but will be eaten again by the same eagle the following day.
