Claire went home after school and told her mother that 1 whole is the same as 2/2 and 6/6. Her mother ask why but Claire couldn’t explain. Play number line in word to help Claire show and explain why 1 = 2/2 = 6/6.

Lets take an example to get to the answer.

Suppose, at the lunch time you are going to eat a cake, which you want to share with your friend equally. So, you have divided it in 2 equal parts. At the mean time your friend got stuck in somewhere else, and so you finished the cake all alone.

As you finished the whole cake, it means you ate the two equal parts.

It means you ate 2/2 part of the cake that is the whole cake.

Now, if you had divided the cake in 6 equal parts, then it would have called like 6/6 part of the cake.

Hence, 1 = 2/2 = 6/6.
