Answer:

a) speed of wind = 39.48 mph

b) direction of wind = 185.2 dgree

Explanation:

Given data:

sir speed is 150 mph

angle of course with ground is 72

ground speed is 130 mph

angle of plane = 58

angle between the angle of plane and course angle is
= 72^o - 58^o = 14^o

from cosine formula speed of wind can be calculate as

c^2 = 150^2 + 30^2 - 2* (150)(130) cos 14

c^2 = 1558.47

c = 39.48

angle of wind can be calculate by using sin rule

(39.48)/(sin 14) = (130)/(sin \theta)

solving for theta

\theta = 52.81^o

the direction of wind
= 180+58-52.81 = 185.2^o
