The factored form of given expression is:

40x + 24y - 56 = 8(5x + 3y-7)

Solution:

Given that we have to factor the given expression

Given expression is:

40x + 24y - 56

We can factor the expression by taking the greatest common factor out

When we find all the factors of two or more numbers, and some factors are the same , then the largest of those common factors is the Greatest Common Factor.

Find G.C.F of 40, 24 and 56

The factors of 24 are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24

The factors of 40 are: 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 20, 40

The factors of 56 are: 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 14, 28, 56

Then the greatest common factor is 8

Thus factor out 8 from given expression

40x + 24y - 56 = 8(5x + 3y-7)

Thus the given expression is factored
