If the sides of a triangle is 12 and 16 the hypotenuse is 20

Solving using Pythagorean has it that

Hyp^2 = opp^2 + adj^2
Hyp*2 = 16^2 + 12^2

Hyp^2 = 256 + 144

Hyp^2 = 400

Hyp = sqrt (400)

Hyp = 20
