It mainly focuses on the blood borne pathogens that infects people in an workplace r an organisational environment. Blood borne pathogens are those that creates diseases in human body through fluids in human body and blood.
These pathogens are transmitted to human body and induces diseases through blood. They are micro organisms that are similar to bacteria and viruses. OPIM includes fluids like cerebrospinal fluid , semen, pleural fluid ,synovial fluid ,vaginal secretions ,amniotic fluid ,saliva,peritoneal fluid and those fluids that contaminates with blood.
