he cost of
2(1)/(2) pounds of cheese s $10

Solution:

Method 1:

Cost of one pound of cheese = $4

Cost of 2 pounds of cheese =
\$4*2=\$8

Cost of
(1)/(2) pound of cheese =
\$4*0.5=\$2

Therefore, the cost of
2(1)/(2) pounds of cheese = 8+2=$10

Method 2:

If one pound of cheese costs $4 then, the cost of
2(1)/(2) (i.e 5/2) pounds of cheese =
\$4*(5)/(2)=\$10

Therefore,
2(1)/(2) pounds of cheese costs $10
