Good evening ,

Answer:

the solution couple is (-4,1)

Explanation:

2x + 6y = -2 (1)

-x + 2y = 6 (2)

(1) - 3×(2) ⇒ (2x+6y) - 3×(-x+2y) = -2 - 3×6

⇒ 5x = -20

⇒ x = -4

therfore (1) ⇒ 4 + 2y = 6 ⇒ 2y = 2 ⇒ y=1.

Answer:

x = -4 ; y = 1

Explanation:

2x + 6y = -2 --------(i)

-x + 2y = 6 --------(ii)

2x + 6y = -2

(ii)*2 -2x + 4y = 12

add; 10y = 10

y = 10/10

y = 1

Substitute y in (i)

2x + 6*1 = -2

2x +6= -2

2x = -2-6

2x = -8

x = -8/2

x = -4
