"We choose to go to the Moon" was the title of the President John F. Kennedy's speech at Rice University on September 12,1962 to praise the country's space efforts. It was meant to persuade people to support the Apollo program to land an American on the moon.

He referred the space as the new frontier and invoked the pioneer spirit of Americans and said that Americans should choose their destiny instead of letting others to do it for them.

Yes, I would have chosen to go to the moon because space was the new frontier and no country had landed an astronaut on the moon, nothing could have been more satisfying than doing something which no one has done before.
