Answer:

Three-sixteenths of an inch.

Explanation:

Given:

Total Length of ribbon =
(7)/(16) \ inch

length of piece of ribbon cut =
(1)/(4)\ inch

We need to find the remaining length of piece.

Solution:

To find the remaining length of piece we will subtract Amount of piece of ribbon cut from Total Length of ribbon.

framing in equation form we get;

remaining length of piece =
(7)/(16)-(1)/(4)

Now to solve the same we will make the denominator common by using L.C.M.

remaining length of piece =
(7*1)/(16*1)- (1*4)/(4*4) = (7)/(16)-(4)/(16)

Now the denominators are same so we will subtract the numerators.

remaining length of piece =
(7-4)/(16) =(3)/(16)\ inch

Hence Remaining length of the piece is
(3)/(16)\ inch.
