Difference between organic sedimentary rocks and other sedimentary rocks:

Organic sedimentary rocks:

  • They are formed form the wastes of animal, plants and other living organisms.
  • Coal, demolites,Coral reefsetc are the examples.
  • These are rich in carbon.
  • They form in the area where there are low amount of oxygen exists.

Other sedimentary rocks:

  • These are formed from the formation of precipitation of dissolved materials or from the mechanical weathering.
  • Breccia, sandastone,shale,etc are the examples.
  • These are rich in calcium.
  • They can form anywhere.
