What is the equation of the line that passes through (1, 2) and is parallel to the line whose equation is 4x + y - 1 = 0?

4x - y - 6 = 0
4x + y - 6 = 0
4x + y + 6 = 0

Good evening ,

Answer:

4x + y + 6 = 0

Explanation:

D: 4x + y - 1 = 0 ⇌ D: y = -4x+1

a line D’ parallel to line D must have a slope of -4

then D’: y= -4x + p (p constant to find)

since D’ passes through (1,2) then 2=-4(1)+p then p=6

finally , D’: y=-4x+6 ⇌ D’: 4x + y + 6 = 0.
