Answer:

A) 9 ft

B) 13 ft

C) 0.5 sec

Explanation:

a) the initial height is given by the last term

b, c) to find the max height, you can graph it, or use the knowledge that the vertex of a parabola is at
x = (-b)/(2a). in this instance, a is -16, and b is 16, so your equation looks like
x = (-(16))/(2(-16))\\ x = (-16)/(-32)\\x = (1)/(2). so your max height is at x = 0.5, which is your answer to c. to find the max height, plug the x value in to find y.

y = -16(0.5)^(2)+16(0.5)+9\\ y = -16(0.25) + 16(0.5) +9\\y = -4+8+9\\y = 13
