The telemarketer can make 117 calls per day

Solution:

Given that a telemarketer has 4 hours a day to call people for a survey

It takes 3 seconds to dial the number and each call takes 2 minutes

To find: Number of calls made in 1 day

From given statement,

Total number of hours = 4 hours

Convert 4 hours to minutes

1 hour = 60 minutes

4 hours = 4 x 60 = 240 minutes

Time taken to dial the number = 3 seconds

Convert 3 seconds to minutes

Use the following conversion factor

1 \text{ second } = (1)/(60) \text{ minute }

3 \text{ second } = 3 * (1)/(60) \text{ minute } = 0.05 \text{ minute }

Thus,

Time taken to dial the number = 0.05 minute

Time taken for call = 2 minutes

Total number of time = 240 minutes

Let "x" be the number of calls made per day

Total number of time = x(Time taken to dial the number + Time taken for call)

Therefore, we get

240 minutes = x(0.05 minute + 2 minute)

240 = x(2.05)

2.05x = 240

x = (240)/(2.05)

x = 117

Thus 117 calls can be per day
