Plz I need help. 1. You have to write an equation in standard form (ax^2+bx+c=0) that represents the problem, 2. solve by factoring if possible, if not possible, then solve using the quadratic equation, and 3. write the answer with units. The word problem is attached below.

(Sorry for the specific instructions but that's how our teacher wants it.)

Answer:

The answer to your question is base = 15 height = 20

Explanation:

Data

Perimeter = 120 yd

Area = 600 yd²

Equations

Perimeter 4b + 3h = 120

Area 2(b x h) = 600

Process

1.- Solve Area for b

b = 600/2h

b = 300/h

2.- Substitute b in Perimeter

4(300/h) + 3h = 120

3.- Simplify

1200/h + 3h = 120

multiply by h 1200 + 3h² = 120h

3h² - 120h + 1200 = 0

divide by 3 h² - 40h + 400 = 0

(h - 20)² = 0

h = 20

Substitute in perimeter to find b

4b + 3(20) = 120

Simplify

4b + 60 = 120

4b = 120 - 60

4b = 60

b = 60/4

b = 15
