Question:

Barbara is tiling her craft room with square tiles. She wants 6/10 of the square tiles to be red. If she used 18 red tiles, how many square tiles will be used to cover the floor . Draw an area model to help solve

Answer:

The number of tiles required to cover the floor is 30

Explanation:

Given:

Fraction of tiles Barbara wants to be red = 6/10

Total number of red tiles used = 18

To Find:

The number of tiles used to cover the tiles = ?

Solution:

Let the number of tiles required to cover the floor be x,

Then

(6)/(10) of x = 18

(6)/(10) * x = 18

x = 18 * (10)/(6)

x = (180)/(6)

x = 30
