y = -1/3x - 2....the slope here is -1/3....a perpendicular line will have a negative reciprocal slope....all that means is flip the slope and change the sign..

-1/3.....flip it.....-3/1....change the sign.....3/1 or just 3. So our line needs a slope of 3.

y = mx + b

slope(m) = 3

(1,4)...x = 1 and y = 4

now we sub and find b, the y int

4 = 3(1) + b

4 = 3 + b

4 - 3 = b

1 = b

so ur equation is : y = 3x + 1 <===
