Answer:

The area of the remaining piece of land in hectares is 26.84 hectares.

Explanation:

Given:

A road measuring 5 meters wide is to be constructed within and along the edge of a rectangular piece of land measuring 0.62 kilometers by 0.45 kilometers.

Now, to get the area of the remaining piece of land in hectares.

So, we convert the dimensions in meters:

0.62* 1000=620\ meters

0.45* 1000=450\ meters.

Now, deducting the road measuring 5 meters from both sides:

450-(5+5)

=450-10

=440\ meters.

620-(5+5)\\=620-10\\=610\ meters.

The new dimensions are 440 meters and 610 meters.

So, the area of the rectangular piece of land:

610* 440=268400\ meters^2.

As, getting the area of land = 268400 meter².

Now, we convert the area of land into hectares:

As, 10000 meter² = 1 hectare.

Thus, 268400 meter² =
268400/ 10000=26.84\ hectares.

Therefore, the area of the remaining piece of land in hectares is 26.84 hectares.
