1): 15, 2): 5

Explanation:

I used the Pythagorean Theorem which is
a^(2) + b^(2) = c^(2).

For 1), the equation is (12*12) + (9*9) = c*c OR 144 + 81 = c*c. I got 225 = c*c. Then I used a calculator to figure out the square root of 225 and I got 15.

For 2), the equation is (4*4) + (3*3) = c*c OR 16 + 9 = c*c. I got 25 = c*c. Then I used the calculator to figure out the square root of 25 and got 5.

Hey, so using the formula A squared + B squared = c squared, you should be able to work these out.

For example the second one would be 3 squared + 4 squared = c squared. So 9+16=25, and then we would root 25 which gives you 5!
