Fatima wants to find the value of sine theta, given Cotangent θ = 4/7.

Which identity would be best for Fatima to use?

A. cosine θ = 1 / secant θ
B. sine² θ + cosine² θ = 1
C. Cosecant θ = r/y
D. 1 + cotangent² θ = cosecant² θ

Answer:

The answer to your question is letter D.

Explanation:

I recommend to use the last identity to find the value of sine Ф, for two mains reasons:

1.- The data that Fatima has is the cotangent and this function is in the identity that I chose.

2.- In this identity we get the cosecant that is the inverse of the sine.

Example

1 + (4/7)² = cosecant² Ф

1 + 0.5714² = csc²Ф

1 + 0.3265 = csc²Ф

1.3265 = csc²Ф

cscФ = 1.1518

sinФ = 1 / 1.1518

sinФ = 0.8682
