The x is a placeholder for a number. In this case, x is holding the spot of 7 since x = 7.

We have 5*(some number) + 2 which is shortened to 5*x + 2

Replace x with 7. Then use the order of operation PEMDAS to simplify

5*x + 2 = 5*7 + 2 = 35 + 2 = 37

The answer is 37
