A café served 180 pickles with 60 sandwiches. If the ratio of sandwiches to pickles is always constant, explain how you can use unit rates and porportions to find how many pickles are needed to serve 32 sandwiches.

Answer:

For 32 sandwiches 96 pickles are needed.

Explanation:

Given:

Number of sandwiches = 60

Number of pickles = 180

We will find the ratio of sandwiches to pickles.

The ratio of Sandwiches to pickles can be calculated by Dividing Number of sandwiches from Number of pickles.

framing in equation form we get;

\frac{\textrm{ Number of Sandwiches}}{\textrm{ Number of Pickles}}= (60)/(180)= (1)/(3)

Hence we can say that;

For every 1 sandwich there are 3 pickles needed.

We need to find number of pickles when number of sandwich = 32

Now from above we get;

1 sandwich = 3 pickles

32 sandwich = Number of pickles needed for 32 sandwiches.

By Using Unitary method we get;

Number of pickles needed for 32 sandwiches =
32* 3 = 96

Hence For 32 sandwiches 96 pickles are needed.
