The functions of the nervous system are:

• It is involved in the transmission of signals in different parts of the body. The nervous system recognizes different sensory signals, interprets them and creates an output or response. The detection of the signals is done by the motor neurons. The central nervous system are the brain and spinal cord. The brain interprets the signals and tells what response should be made which is carried in the form of signals to the region where the response has to be generated.
