Old Sale Price = $100

It was given 60% discount

60% of 100 = 0.6 x 100 = 60

we remove the discount from the original price( 100 -60 ) = 40.

So the new sale price for the pants are now $40

If something is 60% off, that means it is now going to be 40% of its original price because

100 - 60 = 40

To find final price multiply the percentage as a decimal by the price.

40% is 40/100 which as a decimal is 0.4

0.4 x 100 = $40

The pants will be 40 dollars.
