The newspaper has 240000 readers

Solution:

Given that, Local newspaper has letters to the editor from 60,000 people

This number represents 25% of all of the newspaper's readers

To find: Number of newspaper readers

Let "x" be the number of all newspaper readers

From given statement,

60,000 people = 25% of all of the newspaper's readers

60, 000 = 25 % of x

Solve the above expression for "x"

25 % of x = 60000

25 \% * x = 60000\\\\(25)/(100) * x = 60000\\\\ 0.25x = 60000\\\\x = (60000)/(0.25)\\\\x = 240000

Thus the newspaper has 240000 readers
