A kennel has 80 dogs in total, some are puppies and some are adult dogs. The ratio of puppies to dogs in a kennel is 3 : 2. How many puppies are there?

Answer : 48

Workings : add the two ratios together (3 + 2 = 5) then do 80 divided by 5 = 16 and then times 16 by the puppy part of the ratio which is 3. This equals 48
