A Honda Civic Hybrid weighs about 2850lb .Calcculate the weight of the car in newtons. (Note: 0.22 lb =1N ).Calculate the mass of the car in kilograms. (Note: 1 kg on Earth's surface has a weight of 10 N ).

To solve this problem we will apply Newton's second law for which weight is defined as the product between mass and acceleration of gravity. That is to say

F_W = mg\rightarrow m = (W)/(g)

Here,

m = mass

g = Gravitational acceleration

If we have that 0.22lb is equal to 1N, then the weight will be

F_W = 2850lb (1N)/(0.22lb)

F_W = 12954N

Gravitational force is equal to
9.8m/s^2, then

m =(12954)/(9.8)

m =1320.5kg

Therefore the mass of the car is 1320.5Kg
