"If you develop the absolute sense of certainty that powerful beliefs provide, then you can get yourself to accomplish virtually anything, including those things that other people are certain are impossible." (William Phelps ) "I think we ought always to entertain our opinions with some measure of doubt. shouldn’t wish people dogmatically to believe any philosophy, not even mine." (Bertrand Russell) In a well-organized essay, take a position on the relationship between certainty and doubt. Support your argument with appropriate evidence and examples.

Certainty is when you are sure about something or about your own self. But doubt is when you are not sure about something.

Step-by-step explanation:

Certainty is your surety of achieving and accomplishing something or your surety about your own self that you can do it and achieve this goal. But doubt is when you are not sure of doing something and have two minds that whether you will be able to achieve this or not. People who are determined and are certain about themselves can achieve anything in this world.

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." This is a famous quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson who is also encouraging people to have confidence in their own self and be determined to what they want to do.

This question asks for an essay, however, that is a personal task that we cannot provide here. Nevertheless, we can discuss some of the ideas related to this subject in order to provide guidance for your work.

These two quotes differ on the perspective they adopt when it comes to the question of certainty vs. doubt. The first quote states that it is important to have an absolute, unwavering certainty about things in order to achieve greatness. On the other hand, the second quote states that you should never be too certain of things, especially your own opinions.

I tend to agree with the second statement. I believe that doubt is generally more important than certainty. Certainty can sometimes be more action-oriented. However, this action is riskier when you are fully certain of your beliefs, because it does not prepare you for contingencies, or for the failure that might occur. Moreover, having doubt allows you to keep an open mind, and constantly improve your views and opinions as you acquire more knowledge. On the other hand, absolute certainty can make you stubborn, and this can mean that you fail to realize the potential positive contributions of others to your own thinking.
