Answer:

132,000

Explanation:

so lets start with the yearly increase

we find this by doing 20,000*.28

which equals 5,600

next we need 20 years so we multiply by 20

5,600*20=112,000

don't forget we have to add the original population though

112,000+20,000=132,000

Answer: the population after 20 years would be 2787593

Explanation:

Their population increases by 28%

each year. This is an exponential growth. The formula for determining exponential growth is expressed as

A = P(1 + r/n)^nt

Where

P represents the initial population.

r represents the rate at which the population is growing.

n represents the number of period that the population is increasing.

A represents the total population after t years.

From the information given,

r = 28% = 28/100 = 0.28

t = 20 years

P = 20000

Therefore,

A = 20000(1 + 0.28/1)^1 × 20

A = 20000(1.28)^20

A = 2787593
