Greece's geographic location made them advantage because they were linked through sea with other regions in the Mediterranean and sea trade became common. Trade helped Greeks develop a significant and sophisticated culture. Greece is on a peninsula, with exit to the sea at three sides, and one side by land. Also there are thousands of islands there. Climate encouraged outdoor activities like athletic competitions and fruitful art. Greece lacked some natural resources which needed to be found elsewhere. This sparked an exchange in different cultures and advancements in technology and political and philosophical thought.
