Linear growth means that the y value increases by the same amount for each increase in the x value.
Example:
![y=2x](https://img.qammunity.org/2021/formulas/mathematics/middle-school/ttaiti0y2fyane8hqh42e08rr3163yjopk.png)
y increases by 2 for every increase in x.
This will be a straight line when graphed.
Counter-example:
![y=x^2](https://img.qammunity.org/2021/formulas/mathematics/college/iakzfm7v4khnu07sezzoysd7nqif1c4fez.png)
y increases by a different amount for each increase in x.
This will be a curved line when graphed.
