Lactose intolerance may be defined as the medical condition in which the individual is not able to digest the products that contain lactose. This might occur due to the improper functioning of the enzyme lacatse. The individual must avoid the milk and related products.

More than 60% of the human population suffers from the lactose intolerance. The population that shows predominantly lactose intolerance are Scandinavian, Northern European ancestry and nomadic peoples of the middle east and Africa.
