Is MgC2H3O2, a ionic or covalent?

It is ionic. Magnesium is a metal, so it would make a positive ion (cation) with a charge of +2. The c2h3o2, or acetate, is a common polyatomic ion with a charge of -2. Because one charge is positive and one is negative, the bond will be ionic.
