The furthest angle of elevation to the top of the steeple was 20 degrees and the closest angle elevation to the church was 29 degrees. Each person is 1.7 meters tall from his feet to his eyeballs. In order to find the height of the church, what do we need to find first.

Measure of Angle ABC

Length of CD

Answer:

Length of CD

Explanation:

We are given that

Angle CAD=20 degrees

Angle CBD=29 degrees

DE=1.7 m

AB= 20m

We have to find the height of church.

To find the height of church we will find the length of CD.

In triangle CBD

tanx=(perpendicular\;side)/(Base)

Substitute the values

tan29=(CD)/(BD)

0.55=(CD)/(BD)

CD=0.55BD...(1)

In triangle CAD

tan20=(CD)/(AD)

0.36=(CD)/(AD)

CD=0.36AD..(2)

From equation (1) and (2)

0.55BD=0.36AD

0.55BD=0.36(AB+BD)=0.36(20+BD)

0.55BD=7.2+0.36BD

0.55BD-0.36BD=7.2

0.19BD=7.2

BD=(7.2)/(0.19)=37.9m

CD=0.55(37.9)=20.8 m

CE=20.8+1.7=22.5 m

Hence, the height of church=22.5 m
