S(55,000) = $ 1300

Explanation:

To make equation for Sales commission(S) in terms of sales(x):


S(x) = 400 + 200( (x-10000)/(10000) )

To find Commission at x=55000


S(50000) = 400 + 200( (50000-10000)/(10000) )

S(55,000) = 400 + 200(4.5)

= 400 + 900

S(55,000)= $ 1300
