Explanation:

4x- 3y= 8-------1

5x-4y= 5-------2

Subtracting 2 from 1

5x-4y= 5

-4x+3y=-8

x-y=-3----------3

From 3 we have x= y-3-------4

Putting 4 in 1

4(y-3) -3y= 8

4y - 12 -3y= 8

y= 8+12

y=20------------5

Putting 5 in 2

5x - 4(20)= 5

5x=5+80

5x= 85

x= 17------6
