multiply the first one by 3x and the second one by 2

(3x(x + 1) - 2(x + 2)) / 6x =

(3x^2 + 3x - 2x - 4) / 6x =

(3x^2 + x - 4) / 6x

so the numerator is : 3x^2 + x - 4
