Half of 40 is 20 half of 12 is 6 so 20=6 half that again its 10=3 half again and its 5=1.5 half again to get the answer and its 2.5kgs or paper is 7000 sheets of paper

Explanation:
40x=2500×12
x=(2500×12):40
x=750 sheets
