Mountain Kilimanjaro is approximately 19,000 feet high. As you go up the Mountain the air temperature decreases at a rate of about 3.6 °F for each 1000 feet. If the temperature at the top of the mountain is -8°F, what is the temperature at a camp located at 4000 feet high?

Answer:

46 F.

Explanation:

As we go down the mountain from the summit the temperature increases by 3.6 F for every 1000 feet.

So the temperature at 4000 feet

= - 8 + (19 - 4) * 3.6

= 46 F.
