you should make eye contact and do not talk quietly while making the presentation. A great way to engage audience is to speak with enthusiasm and emotion.

Answer

Engage the audience!

Step-by-step explanation:

This may sound ineffective, but it is one of the simplest things you can do while presenting. if you exude energy and passion regarding the subject, the audience will become if not interested in the topic, alert and prepared to listen. I think we naturally tune out dull presenters who are not enthusiastic about their work, those who use a monotonous tone and appear to be reading from a script. Engage the audience with voice inflection, facial expressions, and even effective gestures. A graduate from my school would regularly present in our literature class, and I was always impressed by the ease of which he captured the audience. I attribute it to how comfortable he appeared at the podium, and his way of letting loose and engaging with the audience as peers rather than "classmates listening to his thoughts." I wish you luck with your performance!
