Answer: -3

Explanation

1. Multiply 0.4 by 2

2. In the first bracket, place the sum of 0.4 times 2 (0.8) where the x currently is

3. Subtract 2 from 0.8 to get 1.2

4. Multiply 0.4 by 3 to get the sum of x in the second bracket

5. The sum of 0.4 times 3 is 1.2, add this with 3 to get 4.2

6. Rewrite the equation with what you just solved, it should look like this: 1.2-4.2

7. After subtracting those sums, you should have a total of -3
