The number of rabbits last year is 550

Solution:

Given that rabbit population in a certain area is 200% of last year‘s population

There are 1100 Rabbits this year

To find: Number of rabbits last year

Let "x" be the number of rabbits last year

From given statement,

Number of rabbits this year = 200 % of number of rabbits last year

1100 = 200 % of x

Here "of" means multiplication

1100 = 200 \% * x\\\\1100 = (200)/(100) * x\\\\1100 = 2x\\\\x = (1100)/(2)\\\\x = 550

Thus 550 rabbits were in last year
