When you jump upward, your hang time is the time your feet are off the ground. Does hang time depend on your vertical component of velocity when you jump, your horizontal component of velocity, or both?

Answer:

The horizontal and vertical components of velocity are known to be independent of each other. When we jump upwards, our hang time depends on our vertical component of velocity as we tend to move vertically upwards. As horizontal and vertical components of velocity are independent of each other, hence, hand time only depends on the vertical component of velocity and not on the horizontal component of velocity.
