During Spring Break I planted a circular garden. It has a diameter of 5 feet and I need

to fertilize it. My husband needs to know how many square feet the garden is to buy
fertilizer. Can you find the radius of the garden and then tell me how many square
feet my garden is?

The radius of a circle is half of the diameter.

So, if the diameter is 5 feet then the radius is 2.5 feet.

Square feet means area.

So, we need to find the area of the garden.

Area of a circle = pi • r • r

Area of a circle = pi • 5 • 5

Area of a circle = 77.53981634 square feet

So, it is about 78 square feet.
