Answer:

Option (E) 380

Explanation:

Data provided in the question:

Ratio of J to K to L = 1 : 3 : 5

let x be the constant of proportionality

Thus,

Initial number of J, K and L employees = x, 3x and 5x

Thus,

according to the question

New number of J, K and L employees = ( x + 20x), 3x and 5x respectively.

also,

(x+20)/(3x)=(1)/(2)

or

2 ( x + 20 ) = 3x

or

x = 40

Hence,

New total number of employees = x + 3x + 5x + 20

= 9x + 20

= 9 × 40 + 20

= 380

Hence,

Option (E) 380
