C&A purchases 1200 pounds of milk per day to make ice cream. On average, C&A uses 12 pounds of milk to make one gallon of ice cream in 4 hours. Milk used per day = 1200 pound of milk

Number of pounds of milk required to make 1 gallon = 12

Number of pounds hours per day required = 1200 pound × 4 hours

= 4800 pounds-hours required per day

Therefore,

For 8 hours a day, total pounds of milk required

= [ pounds-hours required per day ] ÷ 8 hours

= 4800 ÷ 8

= 600 pounds

Hence,

600 pounds will make = 600 ÷ 12

= 50 gallon of ice cream
