(3)/(2) liters of paint are needed for 1 wall

Solution:

Given that Claire used 4 liters of paint to cover
2(2)/(3) of walls

To find: Liters of paint needed for 1 wall

Let "x" be the liters of paint needed for 1 wall

From given question,

4 liters of paint =
2(2)/(3) of walls

"x" liters of paint = 1 wall

This forms a proportion and we can solve the sum by cross multiplying the terms

x * 2(2)/(3) = 4 * 1\\\\x * (3 * 2 + 2)/(3) = 4\\\\x * (8)/(3) = 4\\\\x = 4 * (3)/(8)\\\\x = (3)/(2)

Thus
(3)/(2) liters of paint are needed for 1 wall
